Entrepreneurship

The concept of entrepreneurship has been given many meanings by business people and scholars from different discipline since its first use in 1700s.

Hisrich, Peters, & Shepherd, (2007), write, “Entrepreneurship is creating something new with value by devoting the necessary time and effort, assuming the accompanying financial, psychic, and social risks, and receiving the resulting rewards of monetary and personal satisfaction and independence”. (p.8)

A purposeful activity to initiate, maintain and aggrandize a profit oriented business, (Gartner, 1988).

However, most economists and business experts believe that entrepreneurship is one of the major variable for economic growth and employment opportunities.

It is important to also mention what the government has said regarding UNDP's Entrepreneurship development program.

"This project is very important for a host of reasons that have significant bearing on the national development endeavors. One of the challenges we have in this country that stands in the way of ensuring rapid industrial growth is the acute lack of social capital and particularly that of entrepreneurship skills."  H.E. Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn

We also believe that the entrepreneurshhip development should not only be the concern of governments but also other private stakeholders.

so that, we are actively working with Africa Leadership Academy to encourage specially youth entrepreneurship activities

by identifying interesting entreprenurial intentions as well as practical activities to be awarded(up to 75,000 USD) by Anzisha Prize in South Africa, that celebrates innovative youth entrepreneurs.
